Welcome to Get Piano Lesson 8 where we begin to ask our left hand questions it's never had to answer before... how to play the DOMINANT role in a two-handed piano piece? As we all know, piano music is largely performed with a major emphasis on the notes played with the right hand. But there are times when our left hand needs to step up a little and support the right hand with a more prominent rhythm section... like NOW! So... right handed beginners... prepare to step out of your comfort zone for the next 10 to 20 minutes and lets get to work!! This full video is much too long to be shown here, but you can watch the entire lesson (for free as always) by simply going to: http://www.get-piano-lessons.com/how-to-learn-piano.html

  • I just started learning how to play the piano today, and after 30 minutes with a free piano software on my computer, intense banging on the laptop keys, I now can play that last part with 2 hands really fast. Thank you GetPianoLessons!

  • @PilotCube - You're very welcome :0)

  • God that's so hard! How can you keep track of what your left hand is doing, when playing with your right hand.. and vice versa?? :S i've tried so hard but i always have to hold keys with my left hand if i want to play with my right. i can never play simoultaneously with both hands, because the tones always get screwed up :( i don't know if my brain is too slow and can't catch up or something ^^ but its just so annoying because i want to be able to do what you do .. and yes, i am right handed ^^

  • If an athlete with two arms can do 50 push-ups.... then an obese person can eventually do the same 50 push-ups.... as long as he/she *also* has two arms (and the willingness to practice).

No different here.... you've got the same ten fingers as myself..... I've just got more years of practice under my belt...... that's the key to anything on the piano*

  • how long it wud take 4 complete ...

    INDIA

  • That all depends on the individual.... given the amount of practice*

  • @getpianolessons what song is it? and did you ever make that lesson? couple parts in it that are amazing; tough to follow your lightning fast movements :P thanks for all the great vids btw!!

  • Amazing! I will do my best and study hard so I can play like you do =D

I'm so happy with your tutorials.. This is much appreciated!

  • I was gona burn my piano until I did write those notes to paper witch made this 100 times easier

  • oh :O cool. got any tips? :)

  • I know excatly what your talking about does that to e too...but kept practicing and now i play both hands...

    good luck

  • Of course :) i'm just saying that sometimes it feels as if i have to split my brain in two or something in order for my hands to play independently from each other ^^ .. when my left hand does one thing, my right hand wants to do the exact same thing XD .. can be quite frustrating ^^ that's why i'm presently stuck on simply keeping keys depressed with my left hand while playing with my right... but as you say :) practice is probably the life-line here ^^
