Isaac Hayes was simply incomparable as a performer and composer of music like this. He had an instinctive feel for cool and classy rhythm. I was living in the dorms in college watching the Academy Awards when Hayes won the Oscar for best original song for the original Shaft theme. Everyone went nuts when he won the award. And who can top Skip Pitts with the iconic wah-wah guitar line that simply drives this song from start to finish. Good that Hayes got most of the original performers back.

I have to say , most of the remakes now a days are poor versions of the orignal, however this remake is really something else ! love it !
They couldn't have picked a better actor to play this lead rol !
