That D-air is actually a spike, not a meteor. It's just really weak (probably the second weakest in the game, second only to Fox's D-air), and gives very little hitstun.

@Spylugia A meteor smash is a move that sends opponents at a purely downward trajectory. They can be cancelled. (Cancelled means stopping the fall or hitstun with your jump or up special. When you meteor cancel in Melee, your character will glow white, have sparkling effects, and make a wind-cutting sound. ) Spikes are similar to meteor smashes, but they send opponents diagonally downward and can NOT be cancelled.
