Nathan Pritikin is an unacknowledged hero of dietary science.

I met him in 1978 when he was opening a Pritikin Center in the Royal Inn Hotel, Point Loma, San Diego. This is one of his speeches from around that time. Part three of six, circa 1978.

This was 30 years ago, when his ideas were considered revolutionary. It's fun to listen to it now and realize how brilliant he was at analyzing and distilling facts into theory.

Nathan gave his seminars at a low cost and was very open and eager to discuss food and dietary requirements.

  • I don't care how this comes across, so here goes :

    Less than 400 " hits " for Pritikin .... Over 400,000,000 " hits " for Bieber.

Something that could truly make an impact in the quality ( and longevity ) of people's lives is given barely a nod, while folks would rather waste ( yes, W A S T E ) their time looking at a li'l boy sing a pop song. So, what's more relevant to people's lives ? Certainly not their overall health, as evidenced by their true interests. What's more important to people ?

  • @Mr111810 Your message is okay with me. People make choices to eat the opposite of what Mr. Pritikin recommends, others choose to listen to Bieber. I do my best to eat like Pritikin recommends, and I think music quality changes in cycles -- in my opinion we're in a low point of music right now. Things will change again.

  • Thanks for the response.

    Very thoughtfully put.

Just think, though, what a world if more folks could harness their better instincts .....

    on ALL levels.

    Nathan Pritikin is a hero.

And I would love to hear his son's music.
