The concert was organized by Paul McCartney and was motivated by charity, took place on October 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, in response to September 11, 2001. Most attendees were families and other members of the Fire Department and Police Department of New York in honor of those lost in terrorist attacks and those who had worked in the course of rescue and recovery efforts in the weeks since.

The concert included many legendary British musicians, including Mick Jagger with Keith Richards, The Who, David Bowie, Elton John and Eric Clapton. American artists including Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Five for Fighting, Goo Goo Dolls, and John Mellencamp with Kid Rock. As well as actors from television and film, featuring the musicians.

For this event he shared the stage with Eric Clapton Buddy Guy, is a famous blues guitarist and singer of U.S., is known as an innovative guitar Blues in Chicago. Guy and Clapton perform the song "Hoochie Coochie Man", a song from 1954, is originally from Muddy Waters, regarded as the "Father of Chicago blues."

  • I touched Buddy's right shoulder when he came out in the crowed playing his guitar at a concert in Silverton Oregon. I haven't washed it since.
