Based on the children's' supermarionation puppet TV series. Joe Meek produced this powerful sound using many effects from his sound library, they include an aircraft breaking the sound barrier, gunfire, exploding bombs and bubbling water.

Tornados line-up for 1965 (left to right) Ray Randall (Bass Guitar), Roger Warwick (Saxophone), Bryan Irwin (Rhythm Guitar), Tex Cameron (Lead Guitar), Peter Adams (Drums). [Dave Watts on keyboard is not included in photos of the group taken at this time].

Tornados CDs can be obtained from Amazon.
Recommended are "The Complete Tornados" double CD containing all 55 of their released tracks, and
"Ridin' the Wind, the anthology" double CD, which excludes 2 released tracks (Telstar 75 and Red Rocket) but includes 11 previously unissued tracks.

  • Very Cool!!!! is this Band on CD? i'd like to listen to them some More!!!

  • Yes, the Tornados have CDs available from Amazon.

"The complete Tornados" double CD has all 55 tracks they ever issued.

"Ridin' the wind anthology" double CD has 64 tracks which includes previously unissued material but excludes three of their released tracks.

There are other CDs with various compilations.

The Tornados are of course best known for their galactic mega hit "Telstar", which topped the charts all around the world in 1962 and 1963.

  • @Telstar10000 If i get the double CD of all 55 tracks what other songs do I need? Like the different versions they've released of some of their songs and any other stuff.

There are a couple of previously unissued tracks on my channel, "Pandora's Box" and "Redskins". Also on my channel are a couple of tracks by "Gemini" who were the original Tornados line-up under a pseudonym. Also there are tunes by the group members after leaving the band. This stuff is very rare and as far as I am aware only "Redskins" has subsequently been released on CD under the alternative track name "Jackson's Jump". So here is the only place you'll hear these tunes.

  • This may be better than the original theme music recorded for the TV series!

  • Can remember watching this program when I was a kid. The music was so much better back then too!

  • @triforcenerd Yes, they were. But without Joe Meek's production talent and writing genius, they would have been hard-pushed to have found the success they did. :-)
