@andytaurus i know the prolly scared its gonna be a recall..the only plus side to the issue is that i willl always have fresh oil in my car hahaha soo if i go about 4 or 5 months without changing the oil, i wont have to worry haha lol gotta love it
i know a few people who the problem, my friends 04 (3.5) 6speed maxima uses oil and my other friends 02 5speed altima (3.5) uses oil....they both run great just have to keep up on adding oil between changes....i find it ridiculous the amount of people who have this problem with nissans vq35 engine, but yet nissan doesnt even acknowledge the issue in any way.
its not burning its just using oil, mine was the same way it ran perfect no knocking/smoking or power loss..i would just check the oil every few days and it would be low.....its a very common problem for the early nissan 3.5 vq35 engine.....look it up on a reputable nissan forum and people go into detail of the causes......my advice is just keep on adding oil and it will go forever...mine ran great just couldnt stand the fact that it was using oil like that, so i sold it.
@andytaurus my 02 altima 3.5 burns oil but it doesnt smoke knock lost of power or anything..but the oil just does not last..about a quart every week..i think is the valve guides..what you think? and it isnt leaking
be carefull buying early 3.5 liters cause nissan cheap out on the piston rings and a lot of people have had oil burning issues with there 3.5's thats why i sold my 02 6speed max :(
I want a vq35 in mine. do you still have this maxima??
