this was a difficult year
any of the 5 could've won
-
I would have picked Sylvia Miles - loved her in Midnight Cowboy, with Cathy Burns a close second

This is a really tough year where you have 5 nominees who all excelled in their roles. I always thought I would give it to Susannah York (RIP), but I would never begrudge Goldie Hawn as she has had the best career of the five and has a quirky presence. Miles was definitely worthy of her nomination. I wouldn't give it to Cannon for that role, but she really excelled in it and was subtle too. After this clip I really want to see Burns - she probably had the most dramatic part.

One of the few years I actually enjoyed every single performance in the Supporting Actress lineup. Usually there's a turkey or two (or three) but every single one nominated this year had their particular merit.

who ever made this video is a god and I wish they would make more for other years!!

Miles was in Midnight Cowboy for a VERY brief 5 minutes! Who came up with the idea of nominating her?? Must have been the same clown who thought Cannon shouldnt have been in the Best Actress category.

@ninethreefivesix AGREED!!!

Burns should have won. All the way, man.

This is one year I think they got it right - Goldie stole that movie right out from under Ingrid Bergman's nose - and it was her first film! She was dead-on in Cactus Flower, just a perfect performance.

Sylvia Miles lost because there was a blizzard in New York that year and the votes by mail didn't get counted. She herself maintains this (lol!) and so do I. Hands down, for me the winner.

im one helluva gorgous chick
well, one can't choose a winner just based on this montage :) though dead on, Miles's performance is kind of too brief. 4 minutes don't feel enough for a win :D
to me, this should've easily been Catherine Burns's Oscar.
