Ruben Hakhverdyan | In Support of Nareg

On December 9, 2011, Nareg Hartounian, founder of Naregatsi Art Institute and director of GH Storage Enterprises LTD, was detained and put under custody on charges of tax evasion upon a verdict of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan, Armenia. Nareg Hartounian was detained together with his colleagues Ani Mnatsakanyan, deputy director of GH Storage Enterprises LTD, and Artur Galstyan, accountant of GH Storage Enterprises LTD.

The arrest took place without substantial evidence and with severe violations of the RA Criminal Code; a fact that spurred a furious wave of public protest and disapproval throughout Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora around the world. Under the strain of massive public pressure, the court aborted their decision of a two-month arrest, and released Nareg Hartounian and his colleagues after a five-day imprisonment.

This notwithstanding, and despite the fact that Nareg Hartounian is at liberty since December 13, 2011, the persecutions and ongoing harassments against him are still in progress.

«Նարեկացի» արվեստի միության հիմնադիր նախագահ և բարեգործ Նարեկ Հարթունյանի նկատմամբ կալանք կիրառելու մասին Կենտրոն և Նորք-Մարաշ համայնքների ընդհանուր իրավասության դատարանի 2011թ. դեկտեմբերի 9-ի որոշումը հանրային բողոքի մեծ ալիք էր բարձրացրել Հայաստանում և Սփյուռքում: Հանրային ճնշման ներքո պետական պատկան մարմինները կասեցրեցին երկամսյա կալանքի մասին որոշումը` հնգօրյա կալանքից հետո` դեկտեմբերի 13-ին, ազատ արձակելով Նարեկ Հարթունյանին ու նրա հետ կլանավորված «Ջի Էյջ Ստորիջ Էնթրփրայզիս» ընկերության փոխտնօրեն Անի Մնացականյանին ու ընկերության հաշվապահ Արթուր Գալստյանին:

Չնայած ազատ արձակմանը, ճնշումներն ու հետապնդումները Նարեկ Հարթունյանի դեմ շարունակվում են:
