You Skimmed over the importance of properly adjusting the gas system regulator. I have been told that to minimize both recoil and wear and tear on the action parts it must be adjusted properly! any thoughts on this?

The regulator should be set at the lowest setting that will allow the gun to reliably cycle.

Hey, I can't seem to get mine to snap back together with the receiver cover on. I did a complete takedown to clean it, went back together fine but now it won't close up. Any ideas?

awesome video! i just bought an fal and this is pretty much the only useful video for taking it apart. I actually used your gm steering column video for my 84 k10, also! i was wondering if you could touch on some of the tuning aspects. i'm not really sure how the sight mechanism works so how to sight it in and also how to adjust the gas: i assume the higher the number, the more gas allowed thru so shoot for the lowest number possible? thanks!

i have a fn model h thoroughly cleaned it and now it will not cycle it has turned into a single shot any ideas what is wrong?

Kewl. Wht kind of gun laws do they have in Luxembourg? Do you need a license to own guns, and are there certain types you can't own?

I'm from Luxembourg... FALs are about the cheapest milsurp rifles you can get here ;) From English L1A1 FALs or original Belgian ones to South-American licensed copies, they are available in every gunshop and usually cost about 500-800 €.

Yes. I actually figured out the problem, I was using the UTG dust cover rail, like the one on gunpartsguydotcom

It was a bit too long and I had to file down the back end. It's an excellent rail, but two caveats are:

A. you might have to file it down like me

B. you have to tighten the screws that lock it in place, otherwise the bolt might get stuck on them. Happened to me, took 20 mins to figure out what was wrong.
