With a family history of breast cancer, Jennifer Costello is taking extreme measures to get rid of her cancer risk. After finding a cancerous lump in one breast, she is taking extreme measures to get rid of the cancer and make sure it never comes back. Rather than have a lumpectomy and follow up radiation, she's opted for a double mastectomy and then breast reconstruction.

Surgeon Vassi Gardikas supports the decision, especially after hearing how when Jennifer was a teen she watched her mother fight breast cancer repeatedly and finally die from it. Jennifer's own children are now teenagers and she wants to save them from that grief and fear. Plastic surgeon Stephen Zuniga will be making the first cut and closing so that Jennifer will be ready for later reconstruction.
