  • Heh, that's a good idea. Why didn't I think of that? If the honest Tam Dyell can claim thousands for his bookshelves, surely a few hundred for me isn't asking too much.

  • I dunno tenneral. I agree of course that pols are generally corrupt and that this corruption knows no political party, but I find myself mostly unable to get worked up about these scandals.

When massive contracts or bailouts are "coincidentally" given to companies that you have an interest in (see Cheney& Halliburton for example) or billions are given to banks, it just makes buying suits and fixing moats to seem like small fries, don't you think?

  • Very true - and liable to make me very cynical!

  • Human kindness is natural, but corruption is always a influenced. No body wakes up one day and says, "Mmhh...I think I'll run for election so I can be a total ass to my fellow countryman."

The lovely thing about corruption is that it's unnatural, so if one fully realized the mind of the natural self then all corruption would cease. Of course, this isn't easy.

Hey, Michael! I hope you have a nice barbecue

  • I did: but I have now come home, almost sober and red in the face: sun-hat left behind!

  • The problem with firing the politicians who have used public funds to fix up their own houses is that they are replaced with those whose houses still need fixing.

Thus the cycle of corruption never ends.

  • GUY Fawkes was one of the few men to enter Parliament with honest intentions.

  • step aside the money scams the uk minority is practically controlled by media hype from papers ,tv news trying force us to believe there point of view instead of actually telling the news ,torys are biggest culprit even though not in power they are always pushing there party ,the party's act more like footie teams they care only for winning debates more than caring what is best for the country ,the mass votes on the bnp protest is a wake up call for the other partys rebuild or shipout

  • Haha, everytime I switch to the Parlimant Channel, I burst out laughing. They're all in this together. The smart ones drink it up and the hard working have to constantly ask for pocket change.

  • I see, the 'English' are honest and the 'British' are dishonest :D

  • Lib Dems For Government!!!

  • Green LibDem and UKIP are the parties of the future.

Though, a truly gret country would have no politics at all, as it is redundant.

  • yeah I figured

I've seen a lot of good people who are in politics here in iceland... they're mostly socialist though, so they haven't really been in power ever... until now, cause of the depression & all.... looking forward to see if they can handle it!

  • Michael. Nice bookshelves. Perhaps you could put a claim in to the joinery council? :)

  • I go with an anarchist perspective, that is, all power/authority is corrupt unless it can be proven otherwise. But it is one of those probably unsolvable dilemmas of life...

  • i hope you enjoyed the bbq, i wish i had a teacher like you in school!
