Thanks for this video. I think there is a better way to drain the sand, though. At least with my TA 60, there is a "sand plug" in addition to the drain plug at the bottom of the tank. (The drain plug actually screws into the larger sand plug on the tank). Unscrew the entire sand plug plug, and a good amount of the sand will flow out with the water. I stick a hose in the top of the filter to help the sand out the bottom. My Shop Vac would have a tough time pulling out the wet sand.

This is great if you have a sand filter sitting in your garage already empty. what about the A to Z on how to change it while it's sitting on the outside of the pool all hooked up with the pipes and hoses. That's the tutorial I need to know! Any suggestions???

I have a pac fab tagelus 60, but it's an older model. The stamp on the outside says 250lb of sand. Everyone tells me to add 325lb though at local pool stores. Any ideas on what amount I should add? Thank you.

@bocco49 , you need to let the filter Rinse for 1 minutes so the sand settle down ,

question why does sand enter thru return for the 1st time when i open up the pool

@jandjhofmann I found the part. It is called a "sand guide." Part number 155051. I picked one up at a local pool supply store for five bucks. Very handy because it keeps the standpipe centered and sand free while you pour the new sand into the filter.
DO the fingers have to go in any particular way or are they perfurated all the way around?

@GeneralG1810 If they are the snap in kind you want them down. If they twist in try to get them down. Then there are some that are perfurated all the way around. Just depends what you have.... just need to make sure they are snug.
