  • Third just because they are born that way does not mean that it is not an illness, there exist many genetic illnesses which people are born with. Fourth there red lines in each society which should never be crossed. Few decades ago homosexuality was a red line The arguments used today to justify it not being a red line anymore will be used tomorrow to justify crossing other red lines like pedophilia or incest. Why should we today start erasing our red lines.

  • @mustno3

    1. Condoms prevent transmission. That's an argument for condoms.

    2. Some homos do reproduce; plus the planet is too full as is.

    3. Until and unless a safe and effective cure is found it should not be considered a disease.

4: Society changes its lines ALL THE TIME. 100 years ago the legal marriage age in most of the US was 8 or 10. Today it's 16+. 150 years ago polygamy was legal and common. Today, it's illegal. Many societies viewed homosexuality as natural and acceptable.

It is at the limit of dishonesty to associate ourselves with a group of people and act exactly in the opposite way to their ethics on purpose. It is like joining an anti-war protest and loudly shout your support to the war!!! it is betrayal. Of course you may always try to argument that islam actually accepts homosexuality and that all those scholars were wrong during 1400 years. but that will be like adding insult to injury.

it's a request, and I rely for that on your humanity.

  • @mustno3 I'm being decried as un-Islamic when I hold the same views as the last caliphate did 150 years ago. Go protest the Ottoman Empire and talk about why we should never see another Caliphate please.

  • @policeluigi The difference between wanting something and having an inborn predisposition for it is that when you want something, that desire can often be substituted. So let's say a new convert wants a margarita, she can probably substitute a cup of chocolate ice cream. But if she's a genetic alcoholic with an inborn predisposition for alcoholism, the ice cream just won't cut it. Sadly, there's nothing we can do for genetic alcoholics, any more than we can do something to help the gays.

Also, please be aware that islam, being a registered name, :), is very clear that it was not revealed to be later changed by humans, be it to adapt it to the time or for any other reason or human caprice. It is rather the opposite, i.e. time and human caprice should adapt to Islam.

  • @ThisIsMyDeen

    I am talking about ISLAM

    not the last caliphate

it is as simple as this:

Islam does not allow homosexuality + your views are contrary to islam -> if you are honest, and I am sure you are, you should put islam aside and make it clear that these are your views not those of islam.

Islam is one and is timeless, take it as it is, or please leave it as it is. if you want to make changes, that's your right, but then you should know that the word islam is already taken do not steal it

  • @ThisIsMyDeen

    where to draw the redline?

or should we draw one at all? <- THAT IS THE QUESTION.

Plus my dear sister in humanity, I can respect your position, but please do not use the word "muslim" cause islam's position on that is clear. PLEASE.

  • @ThisIsMyDeen

would you agree and accept it under the excuse of accepting societal change that in 10 or 20 years your son or grand-son asks you or his sister into marriage. that's already happening legally today between siblings btw.

would you find it ok if your son chooses to marry his dog. I am sure that in 20 years science would be advanced enough to allow procreation between humans and animals so that the argument of reproduction would be dismissed like it can be today with the homos.

  • @ThisIsMyDeen

    4. this is maybe the most important point. societies change there is no doubt. Does that mean that in a few decades incest will be legalised and people will have to accept it then.

change can lead societies in both directions, up or down. humans should be intelligent enough to distinguish between both directions and correct themselves so that they progress instead of regressing. homosexuality is definitely a regression.

  • @ThisIsMyDeen

    1. The numbers keep increasing especially in the countries where condoms are widely available. Homosexuality is not as widespread in the countries were condoms are not widespread!! strange

    2. homos do not reproduce. Exceptions are excluded as they are not representative of the general situation.

    3. why should it not be. according to which rule. what makes something to be called a disease and another not. which bias.
