  • He does more for education than congress. Thank you Bill.

  • Bill Gates is so confused, he even thinks Khan Academy is the wave of the future. Where was he when I tried to promote that 25 years ago?

We need to focus on ideas newer than a previous generation!!! He should inform teachers about mass communication and real internet solutions. Present virtual schools support schools not students. That is backwards and is why we fail.

  • Virtual schools support schools, not students. When will the consumer(student) concerns be important? When will Bill Gates include his specialty "software" and mass communication technology to help all students? We focus on small effects, 1 class, 1 teacher, 1 community.

Local control limits our search for solutions to local issues. This is not cost effective. Teachers need to focus on learning not just teaching.

  • When will we focus on learning? Other nations have higher class sizes of 60 or more. Look at the class size of a "book", it could be millions.

We need larger class sizes for lectures which could free up teacher time for needy students. Lets create videos of lectures by professionals to effectively communicate ideas and concepts especially for math and science so all can benefit.

Class size debate is simply a scare. Let teachers look to provide effective resources besides books.

  • In the WAITING FOR SUPERMAN movie, Geoffrey Canada states, " I actually know how hard it is to be a GOOD teacher.

It took me 3 years to become a DECENT teacher, BEFORE I really LEARNED my CRAFT.

And then in about 5 years, I was a MASTER teacher."

Ironically, 50% of NEW teachers QUIT within 5 years.

Inner-city schools are innundated with NEW teachers, because once a teacher gains EXPERIENCE, she moves to a school in the suburbs. Schools where the kids actually listen to the teacher!

  • TYPO CORRECTION: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

  • Mr. Gates? You're a BILLIONAIRE! And, you worry about some poor, old teachers' pensions? Teachers who dedicated their LIVES to educating our youth!

After 30 years of hard work, these old women get a small pension and a few health benefits. And, this bothers you?

Oh, wait, you want to fire them before they can collect their pension!

    Could you be more cruel?

There's a God up in heaven! He sees everything!

"Blessed our those that are poor in spirit, for they shall inherit the kingdom of
