Aung San Suu Kyi (pronounced Ong Sawn Sue Chee) is the world's only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize recipient. Suu Kyi is not just a prisoner, she is the rightful leader of Burma (also known as Myanmar). She led a political party, the National League for Democracy, to win 82% of the seats in parliament in Burma's last democratic election. Because of her peaceful fight for human rights and democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi has been forced from her children and family. (On May 27th, despite the outpouring of humanitarian aid offered in response to the cyclone, the military junta chose to extend her house arrest by another year, rather than to release her, as had been scheduled.) Aung San Suu Kyi has appealed to people around the world to help the struggle for human rights and democracy in Burma, saying "Please, use your liberty to promote ours."

The Human Rights Action Center and the U.S. Campaign for Burma have joined together to create "Burma: It Can't Wait," a first-of-its-kind, 30-day campaign using influential celebrity voices to help build a million-person movement to free Nobel Peace Prize recipient Aung San Suu Kyi and the people of Burma.

I met myanmar's Army Chief of staff, Maung Aye last month at the Asean Armies Rifle meet. i was the sound engineer. watching him and his soldiers eat drink and laugh, i can't help but feel the urge to rush over and stab him! obviously i can't, i was a military sound engineer.i have to smile and shake hands with their colonel. I just got discharged from the army. i wonder if i have any chance to see them again, and what will i say to them. free burma!

Fabulous...What would these same "idealist" say if my privately held corporation (210 guys with guns) landed in Burma, found the leader of the "resistance" and put him/her into power? What would be the point? A Republic, Democracy, oligarchy or statist?
