Brilliant interview - thank you for posting this.

@PanzerDivisionBOM Exactly.

It's conceivable that he could have forced an end to the War on Terror through use of this power alone, by suddenly and unexpectedly vetoing crucial military spending increases.
Frankly, I'm convinced that any random bum off the street has had a much more positive overall impact on the cause of world peace, by condoning and committing fewer and less egregious acts of aggression.

"[...] those worthy of the peace prize were not rewarded for their tireless actions."
Forget "tireless actions". The president has a seal of veto. Every congressional act from the last two years has been presented to him, and he could have stopped any or all of them by means of a short, written complaint. That includes every bailout bill, the Blank Act of Blank, the PATRIOT Act renewal and multiple punitive taxes, including the healthcare fiasco, just off the top of my head. -

@PanzerDivisionBOM I do not support Obama as winner of peace prize. He was given the prize to encourage US to renounce war and end atrocities in Afghanistan and Iraq and to show the world that there are altnerative resolutions to conflict than war. However, in hindsight this exercise of the carrot has proven ineffective since US wars have not changed and those worthy of the peace prize were not rewarded for their tireless actions.

Willy Brandt got the Nobel for his diplomacy and kneeing down in Poland, rightly so, asking for forgiveness, given the imperialistic wars and genoicides of our history, he was not even involved in, being in exile.
I read the text of the Committee for the Nobel, he is quoting. Worth to read!

"Institutionalized racism and sexism are examples of this.
* Negative vs. Positive Peace - introduced the concept that peace may be more than just the absence of overt violent conflict (negative peace), and includes a range of relationships up to a state where nations (or any groupings in conflict) might have collaborative and supportive relationships (positive peace)."
Reference is made to the interview with William Engdahl, laying out the overall strategy for Afgha!

"Galtung is frequently referenced in regard to concepts he introduced, or at least is commonly associated with:
* Structural violence - widely defined as the systematic ways in which a regime prevents individuals from achieving their full potential.

Maybe the Old & New World Order has forgotten also to give A. HITLER and G.W. BUSH a NOBEL PEACE PRICE ...
Does President Obama Deserve To Win The Nobel Prize?
Simple question deserves a simple answer: no, he doesn't.
If you ever have the mentality that war is necessary, then you should never accept any prize that involves peace.
He needs to turn that award in.
