( http://www.vawatchdog.org/ ) This is the second of three parts. Tammy Duckworth, Public Affairs Chief for the VA, defends the use of "Your Life, Your Choices," ( the so-called Death Book for Veterans ) although she blows the interview when she doesn't seem to have a grasp of dates the guide was used and didn't know about a directive urging its use. Program aired Sunday, August 23, 2009 on Fox News Sunday. Part 3 is Sen. Arlen Specter who wants to hold a hearing on why the guide is being used. (be sure to view part one for more info)
The ONLY veteran Tammy Duckworth is looking out for is HERSELF. I served 8 years ADAF and I know what I'm talking about. She tries to turn it around and make it look like Mr Towey's agenda is self-interest, to sell his own book, but SHE is the only one that even mentions this, including $5 that she admits to NOT wanting to spend on veterans.
When SHOWN the document, she at first denies its existance, and then tries to claim "It isn't a DIRECTIVE", implying maybe it was a SUGGESTION?
BULLSHT!

That's funny...I never heard Chris Wallace say anything along the lines of veterans should be given less information.
He pointed out facts, and the Obama administration lied about them. If this book is so harmless, by is the current administration scrambling to blame it on the last?

More:
The circumstances where life might not be worth living also include ones common among the elderly and disabled: living in a nursing home, being in a wheelchair and not being able to "shake the blues."
But feel free to help the White House lie and deny these facts, and excuse Mrs. Duckworth's shameful dishonesty. Blame Fox News to prove you're a good liberal puppet if you must, but realize that you are so very wrong.

Sure, the book doesn't explicitly say, "assisted suicide", but it asks veterans to decide if their life is "not worth living," because of circumstances which may include, "I can no longer contribute to my family's well being," "I am a severe financial burden on my family" and that the vet's situation "causes severe emotional burden for my family."
Besides, the issue at hand is that the Obama administration realized this issue was poison, tried to cover their tracks, and lied about it.

I've read the pamphlet. There is nothing in it that suggests suicide. Vets are adults; they are capable of reading source material about preparing a living will without freaking out... "OMG, I'm gonna kill myself!" This clip is more right-wing BS from FauxNews and the GOP.

This document is about making a living will, NOT asstisted suicide. Read it! Jim Towey wants to kill the "Your Life, Your Choices" pamphlet because he has been trying to sell his own "Five Questions" document to the VA for use in VHA medical centers. Towey and Chris Wallace argue that veterans should be presented with LESS information, not MORE, when it comes to making a living will.

libbie.....there is no place where there is any talk of assisting suicide....none. Perhaps you ought to read what the book actually says instead of listening to those with an agenda tell you their "version".
