[Idol Shocking Moment] Melinda Doolittle's elimination (Season 6)

When a performer as good as Melinda Doolittle is sent home just steps from the finale, one has to wonder what's going on. Lazy fans? Tone deaf voters? Producers looking to add a bit of drama in the eleventh hour?

Whatever the reason, Melinda has deserved a chance to sing in that finale from Day One of the competition. True, the Jordin-Blake matchup is more evenly weighted. Jordin brings youth, Blake creativity, but neither can strut the stage as well as Melinda.

Melinda should be fine in the long run. She has a promising career ahead of her and she won't be subject to that requisite lame first album that five of the six previous Idols have tried to emerge from. And, she won't be forced to mention American Idol at every turn. She's been given the escape card (though I believe Melinda is the kind of person that will give Idol more credit than it deserves.)

Not every American Idol winner is truly an American Idol winner. It goes to show that image isn't everything. People want to hear talent to back them up.

Ok, after just listening to Melinda's My Funny Valentine I would have been fine if she won Idol instead. I fell in love wih Jordin during AI, but Melinda's MFV was the single best performance of the whole season. Either way the final should have been those two.

Yes, Melinda was the best technical singer but Jordin was electric and fresh. She deserved the crown. On this show however Blake should have left and not Melinda.

Melinda Doolittle was TOO GOOD a singer to be kept in this programme. People have sh*t in their ears, they don't know what real music is anymore and can't spot a TRUE singer when they hear one. Very sad. This woman sings beautifully, with feeling, she is not a bimbo.
