actually, going back to the turn of the century photos show the dancers of egypt always wearing shoes with a slight heel. golden era egyptian dancers always wore shoes. you can find clips on youtube. in modern egyptian dance, they will often kick off their shoes, but in countries like turkey and lebanon it is most common to see a dancer in shoes, usually heels.

original art bellydancing is done without without shoes, its done barefooted, bellaflorida do research before u judge, she is a great dancer but the original bellydance is done barefooted!!!

I hate belly dancer with shoe, there is something fake about the whole thing. Real people who dance belly dance do not bother with shoe.
