A glimpse into the life of my mother Ella Ivey who made her transition from this life to dwell with the ancestors on November 4, 2010.

In 2009 my son Tesfa I had a school assignment to interview an elder about their past experiences. He chose to speak to his grandmother and ask her about her experiences during the Civil Rights era.

In the interview Ella shares her childhood experiences growing up in a small town in South Carolina, coming to New York to go to high school and meeting Martin Luther King, Jr. before the Birmingham bus boycotts had occurred.

Ella goes on to speak about the impact of music during the civil rights struggle and ends with her commenting on her feelings as she watches the inauguration of the United States' 44th president, Barack Obama.

On behalf of the entire family and everyone whose life you've touched I want to say, Mommy, I love you. Thank you for everything. Guidance and Protection on your journey. We will continue to walk with you in our hearts. Eternal Blessings.
