News story broadcast on 24th April 2008 about the launch of the Bristol chapter of the AHF. This was our very first session in England and since then the club has expanded and is proving very popular in the area. We also run a club in Newport, South Wales that has been running for over two years now. For more info on our club please visit www.historicalfencing.co.uk

  • Thanks for that, they did a good edit job on the story. We are pretty pleased with it.

  • The way she's wielding that longsword is hilarious. Anyway, wish there were more information about European MA on TV, so the Old World would realize they have martial history too, not just the easterners.

  • woah that one hot reporter!

  • Great Video.

We also practice historical fencing: Please have a look at our Murmillo1-Channel!

  • Actually we have found there is room for many different sorts of people, we have very competitive athletic types and we have some who don't like or can't spar but simply want to learn, for the most part though, we are about competitive fighting, it is gaining in popularity all the time, but its for the most part a very different crowd to olympic fencing.

  • Olympc fencing has been around for some time and does have the audiance needed for talent, this does not, though its of more interest. Advertising and tournaments will help, though the soft anyone can come in image may have to go. What I mean to say is that an edge is gained by tapping into a manly side of fighting, recalling battles and so on.

  • Interesting, but I dont think much glory comes of it if you cant get athletes into it. What I mean is that it brings in those with historical interest, but not those who go in because they want to kill with a sword. Will a a fighting genious or a quick guy come along and raise the sport up? Who's to know, but when it happens I'm interested. Swordfighting was the boxing or MMA of the day, if it becomes remotely like that we'll get good fighters.

  • Excellent stuff chaps! Very well presented on the research side, a credit to the art :)

And you can send that pretty reporter up here if you like!

  • what the song 0:24

  • Cool, well done. Good that they didn't try to go for the weird angle.
