    This is Hochdeutsch ("high" German), the formal language WITHOUT dialect, and even without any accent afaik. Dialect would be sth. like Bavarian, Saxonian, "low"German

    ( = Niederdeutsch = Plattdütsch) is the northern dialect.

  • Is this Northern German dialect? There are some differences from what I learned when living in Bayern (Bavaria). Perhaps it was because I was not taught formal (high) German?
