REFUGEES

Tango -- the dance of the immigrants ... the lonely ... lost people
Tango -- the dance of the ever searching, yearning human to human
Tango -- the wild, exuberant joy, nostalgia and forgetfulness


Since the 17th century a procession of refugees has been making the journey from Europe to Argentina as if moving to the Promised Land.
In the beginning the men went, hoping that they would make some money and then bring their families over. Leaving part of their lives in their homelands, after the hard working day was gone, they were used to gather in the evenings in the restaurants of Buenos Aires, where in the arms of the cheap beauties under the influence of the alcohol they were singing and dancing... TANGO. A man to a man, a man with a man, for in the beginning there were the men ... Unnoticeably, in the tango, the chord and melodies that appeared reminded them the evenings in their homelands -- the songs and the dances, in the embraces of the beloved ones... For a long time devoted to their memories, drifted by the whirlpool of Destiny and by the whims of Time, for a moment the immigrants overcame the distances and were carried away to their home Balkans. The Turk and the Armenian were friends again; they were singing and dancing together, hugging their beloved girls. Seizing Time, the Jews were insatiably, with wild joy cherishing the moments of peaceful and happy life. The Serbs were back to their home Sumadija, wondering who would leave such a place and what it could be changed for ... The Bulgarian was welcoming wedding-guests to marry the girl, who was left to wait for him....
And thus till the wine abandoned them and Destiny wished to bring them back to the reality. With the entire drama of a broken life, with the never failing nostalgia and hope for better times ...
And the aspiration for that ordinary human happiness which makes the eternity ...
