@johngenzale LOL! Yes! That academic whoever was himself a schlockmeister… carrying on with academic verbiage… pompous, pedantic, pretentious… and proved himself without any real grasp of what rock 'n' roll and pop music are about– none. Although it may be an overstatement to qualify Spector a "genius", there's no dismissing his very special aptitude for music-making, and of course, his work in the recording studio.

Ok, Phil Spector was an out right ass. However, who is this idiot and what credentials does he have to give any credible opinions about any musicians or composers. How do these people seem to make it on camera?
-
"River Deep/Mountain High" is one of the most powerful records I have ever heard.

I disagree with Goldman.Spector was a genius-he made pop music symphonic.I think Phil was one of the truly great producers. The Wagner of pop music-that was Phil Spector.
But why do people here characterize Goldman in terms of anti-semitism.It`s like Julius Streicher is writing the comments.Let`s keep Jew hatred out of here.

@Sadakogirl Maybe not but she could be called the psychological equivalent of that particular dynamic based on her psychic enslavement by her father figure Ike. Not too different from Phil & Ronnie really...
-
It is actually nice to hear an intelligent and creative evaluation of Phil Specter's contribution. Goldman has a very interesting and many ways accurate intellectual perspective on a particular genre/style that Specter created. I still enjoy the music but certainly also enjoyed an intelligent discussion...

hes was a woman hater faggot.

i like how he's talking shit about rock nd roll but has a picture of elvis behind him...the irony! lol
-
@johngenzale Yeah this guy Goldman really shows his sick psychotic view of music and the world..He is really a disgruntled failure and found a way to make money writing books just to hurt people of great talent.
-
Goldman is just a talentless nothing who made a living degrading people of talent with nasty books

Everyone's down on Albert Goldman but I find him really entertaining!

Did whoever posted this add the "River Deep Mountain High" stuff when they paused him? Or was it the person who made this documentary? I figured it was done ironically because no one could call Tina Turner a tremulous, adenoidal teenage girl.
