Max Curry and I set out to catch some action on Canadian National's Centralia Subdivision in the Du Quoin area in southern Illinois. Here the nightly manifest rolls through Du Quoin on Main #2.

Now at a rural crossing between Tamaroa and Bois we see an extra for Champaign Yard.

Now at Tamaroa, Illinois we see another extra from Champaign enroute to Fulton, Ky. The train will perform work at the small yard 5 miles ahead at Du Quoin, Illinois. The track in the foreground is Union Pacific's Pinckneyville Sub from Mt. Vernon to Chester, Illinois.

A nightly staple on the CN is Q195, a hot pig train from New Orleans, Louisiana to the Moyer Intermodel terminal in Homewood, Illinois. This was shot in De Soto, Illinois located about 6 miles north of Carbondale.
