She probrably was abandoned by her tribe at a young age and not taugh how to hunt and not having a male lion to mate with. So wanting not to be alone and mother something could defy nature. So in that kind of theory it is possible.

this story is very touching. its as though she can't have kids its self so she's taking care of ones she likes. i don't think she would kill it. she looks tooo caring and loving to do that.
