A unique kung fu wooden dummy training apparatus with technique demonstrations.
My Wooden Man that I designed has 5 arms as opposed to the standard Wing Chun (Southern Shaolin) dummy which has 3. My dummy creates a different set of vectors against an opponents oncoming force.
Ting Jing, listening energy, is the foundation of the internal stylists fighting ability. This sensitivity to sensory information allows us to stick to and borrow the opponents energy. The old masters taught that each movement and posture contains: rotation, corkscrew, extension, withdrawl, rising, and sinking. When the force of an opponent's strike is met by an elastic force created by our stretched posture, a force equal and opposite to the strike will result. This force is not met directly and head on, it is evaded using a winding, spiraling force. By calculating the angle of collision, the incoming striking force can be adhered to and redirected, and our resultant vector can contain our own counter strike.
Sticky energy is the ability to catch an opponents strike and maintain contact without gripping it with fingers. This can be explained by the Newton's mechanical laws: the law of conservation of momentum, the law of resultant force and the ratio of friction.
Striking of a wooden stake with the hands (palms and fists) toughens and conditions the striking surfaces, allowing for more powerful strikes. Tree qigong teaches exhange of qi with the trees. These combined methods are "wood palm," and is one of the schools of Chinese palm (open hand) boxing symbolized by a green palm. Other schools are iron (metal) palm, water palm, fire palm, earth (stone) palm. Chinese herbal formulas and qigong must be practiced along with wooden dummy exercises, to ensure smooth flow of qi.
Thank You to Lee Kwong Ming for the break down of physics terms via his esteemed sifu Sun Bao Gung.

No satire, this guy has trained. It might look easy, and even sloppy or hap-hazard, but he knows his chops, pardon the pun. It takes a lot of skill to do that, and there's a lot of power going on. I certainly wouldn't want to be trying to fight him - notice how much that pole moves when he "slaps".
