its only dead in winter becouse rich tourists have bought more than half the houses in Cei-Newydd as 'holiday homes' and pushed the true welsh locals out.

What's this i hear about the Black Lion pub being shut and being turned into flats. That was a cracking boozer.

Lots of Midlanders go there, as I recall, at least by listening to accents. But there were lots of Welsh people too. As a Mancunian, I was taken there by my grandparents and parents - who were all from Cross Hands, Cefneithin and Gorslas in Carmarthenshire - in the 60's and 70's. They all talked about being taken there as kids. I have taken my kids many times, though it is a bit of a commute as we live in Canada. I hope they will take theirs

@kaytiibabes: I did say tend to go to Fontygary, that doesn't mean everybody! But walk through Newquay in the middle of the tourist season, most of the accents are Midland. I'm not saying that South Walians don't go there, obviously, but it's easier and in many cases, cheaper, to get on a plane and go to Spain than it is to get to Newquay - logically speaking, Cardiff airport is closer!

Coming back down again in 19 days time can't wait to get away from it all in a nice peaceful place that's not over-run by minorities. Dragonland here I come. Penwig get those pints ready LOL. Also looking forward to a nice bowl of cawl.

foolish is as foolish does coracleman!at least you now accept that England supports these horrible little "leech states" surrounding her.

Your welfare state lordflanderwell?? Since when has the welfare state become just the preserve of the English? I was under the impression that the Welsh, N Irish and Scots paid into the benefit system as well. How foolish of me not to realise it's only the English who keep us fed in times of hardship
most of the tourists are actually from the midlands, not south wales. South Walians tend to go to Fontygary
