Leonard Cohen and his wonderful musicians lay down their instruments for the closing number at the end of the show at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia on 5-12-09 and stand in a line, arm in arm, to serenade the audience with Wither Thou Goest. Leonard Cohen offers a blessing with prayer-like words of warmth and gratitude to his audience, and then he and his band of merry men and women leave the stage. This show is the best of the best.
(Apologies for a shaky video that does not really do justice to this ending of an amazing show.)
Leonard Cohen: "I don't know when we'll be back this way again, so until then, take care friends, and the weather's kind of tricky out there, so don't catch a cold. If you've got to fall, try to fall on the side of luck. And may you be surrounded by your friends and family. And, if this is not your lot, may the blessings find you in your solitude. Thank you so much for your warmth and hospitality. We deeply appreciate it. Good night, friends."
My personal favorite segment! Many. Many thanks for this. 5 star rating all the way!
