When President Richard Nixon announced the American invasion of Cambodia in a television address on April 30 1970, students across America began protesting.

On May 4, at Kent State University in the city of Kent, Ohio, the protests turned deadly when the Ohio National Guard began shooting.

Four students were killed and nine others wounded, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.

  • is that a reason to start shooting?

  • @GeorgeVreelandHill

You would have shot two people not even involved in damaging your property?

And its not even your property, its public property. They weren't threatning anybody. Those who shot them were yellow-bellied cowards and brainless drones hiding behind their guns.

I blame the National Guard and the joke of a government that sent soldiers to die by the thousands for a wrongful war. THEY started it all.

  • @THEBURNINGTIGERS The Guard retreated in an effort to not have a violent confrontation and the protestors followed them with continual bombardment of debris. Do you not think a rock can hurt or kill? And they were protesting something I believed in. Nobody really wanted us to be in Vietnam. Its just that some of us decided to be adult in our protests. All these protestors accomplished is getting people killed and they should be held accountable.

  • @mmac382 So rocks should be met with bullets, I someone throws a rock at you from a hundred feat away and you shoot them as well as three people your going to prison. Forget I don't think your interested legality I just think your glad they got shot because what they stood for, I bet your reaction would be completely different if the people shot were people standing up for something you believe in.

  • @THEBURNINGTIGERS Three days of civil disobiendiance destroying the city of Kent. If they wanted rubber bullets used they should have been throwing rubber rocks. The National Guard unfortunatly shot the wrong people. They didnt want to hurt anyone thats why they shot over the protesters heads. That of course was a mistake. They should have shot the protesters.

  • @mmac382 So a little civil disobediance warrants the death penalty. God talk about blame the victim.

  • @THEBURNINGTIGERS They were breaking the law. And then they got other studants killed.

  • @mmac382 God forbid that people exercise their constitutional rights...

  • Why did youtube mute it?

  • A corrupt government that we are still dealing with 40 years later propagandized a bunch of confused and misled young national guardsmen to shoot their fellow patriots. It's the most tragic kind of friendly fire. We can never let them do it to us again. weed need accuracy and truth in media laws that punish people that deliberately defraud their audience with propaganda for finacial gain. Make companies that hire reporters execise due dilligence in their reporting. Fox News would be gone.

  • @rice31254

So your excuse for US soldiers doing it is that the Viet Cong did it too? Good to know we hold our troops to the standard that as long as the enemy does it too its all good.

  • @loner1878

Yes because the US soldiers are the ONLY ones doing the killings in the Vietnam war.
