"Do atheists reject Christ because of reason? No, no. They reject him because of irrationality."

- Martyn Lloyd-Jones

After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, "Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you." At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him. When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison. Now three days after Festus had arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea. And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews laid out their case against Paul, and they urged him, asking as a favor against Paul that he summon him to Jerusalem--because they were planning an ambush to kill him on the way. Festus replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea and that he himself intended to go there shortly. "So," said he, "let the men of authority among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong about the man, let them bring charges against him." After he stayed among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea. And the next day he took his seat on the tribunal and ordered Paul to be brought. When he had arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and serious charges against him that they could not prove. Paul argued in his defense, "Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I committed any offense." But Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, said to Paul, "Do you wish to go up to Jerusalem and there be tried on these charges before me?" But Paul said, "I am standing before Caesar's tribunal, where I ought to be tried. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you yourself know very well. If then I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death. But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar." Then Festus, when he had conferred with his council, answered, "To Caesar you have appealed; to Caesar you shall go." Now when some days had passed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Caesarea and greeted Festus. And as they stayed there many days, Festus laid Paul's case before the king, saying, "There is a man left prisoner by Felix, and when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid out their case against him, asking for a sentence of condemnation against him. I answered them that it was not the custom of the Romans to give up anyone before the accused met the accusers face to face and had opportunity to make his defense concerning the charge laid against him. So when they came together here, I made no delay, but on the next day took my seat on the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought. When the accusers stood up, they brought no charge in his case of such evils as I supposed. Rather they had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive. Being at a loss how to investigate these questions, I asked whether he wanted to go to Jerusalem and be tried there regarding them. But when Paul had appealed to be kept in custody for the decision of the emperor, I ordered him to be held until I could send him to Caesar." Then Agrippa said to Festus, "I would like to hear the man myself." "Tomorrow," said he, "you will hear him." So on the next day Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp, and they entered the audience hall with the military tribunes and the prominent men of the city. Then, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought in. And Festus said, "King Agrippa and all who are present with us, you see this man about whom the whole Jewish people petitioned me, both in Jerusalem and here, shouting that he ought not to live any longer. But I found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to go ahead and send him. But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore I have brought him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that, after we have examined him, I may have something to write. For it seems to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not to indicate the charges against him."
(Act 24:24-27; 25:1-27)

  • umm.. i reject him because of reason.

  • Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has.

    - Martin Luther

  • Dear christians,

Don't for 1 minute think that believe in god is rational. There may be a god, but she is not intercessionary (e.g. does not answer prayers) and, after the moment the universe and life began, there are evidence-based scientific explanations for how they evolved into what we see today.

Rationality lies in non-belief. Until you take the time to READ the bible, LOOK at the real evidence, it is irrational to sustain faith in any god.

  • @UrukEngineer The same bible in which you condemn is the same reason why I believe, I honestly don't want to continue this but i have to leave you with this. Get a bible and read it, and maybe then you'll understand why we believe, also maybe you watching christian videos is not a bad thing. You should listen to : The Judgment Seat of Christ - Leonard Ravenhill (FULL) , Paul Washer sermons, Ravi Zacharias - he deals with atheism, John Macarthur and John Piper. God Bless (ur in my prayers!) :)

  • @koolchick592 I watched your video. McArthur basically uses the bible to prove that the bible is true. "Jesus just could not be made up" - oh yes he can. His reference to archeological evidence was weak. How can ANY archeological evidence prove the divinity of any man?

Have you watched Evid3nc3's video yet? What was factually incorrect?

Don't just stick your fingers in your ears and shout "READ THE BIBLE" at people. You need to undertand their position if you are to form an argument.

  • @koolchick592 ...contd

    2. Atheism says nothing about what you believe - only what you don't believe. I would describe myself as an Evidentialist Humanist. I had to search to find the right "labels" that best fit what I think. My moral code comes from these 2 concepts (explain later if you want). However, I don't just make moral stuff up, I engage in debate to test my moral thinking. As I learn more about a subject I am prepared to adjust my position eg on abortion etc.

    Peace

  • @UrukEngineer I put a lot of faith in the Bible because i read it and because there are so many evidences to prove its reliability. HAVE YOU ACTUALLY READ THE BIBLE? you seem to have a lot to say concerning it. I really don't want to continue this debate, if not its not going end, only God can work in you, try and read the bible, it changed my life, it can definately change yours.

Also watch this video: Is the Bible really True? (John MacArthur) /watch?v=1FeJdSyghrs

  • @koolchick592 "But UrukEngineer ur in my prayers", I understand that you see this as a kind guesture, so thank you. I appreciate it.

There are 2 reasons I comment on christian (and other religious) videos:

    1. I don't mind what people believe, it is what they DO that I care about. Homophobia, sexism, racism are all promoted by various religions. This really annoys me. Furthermore these dogmas are "pushed" on people as being logical - that is a lie. Hence why I commented on this video.

  • @koolchick592 Have YOU really read the bible? You put a lot of "faith" in it. Do you know who wrote it, how it evolved as a text?

Before you determine that you should believe "what the bible says" do you think it sensible to understand why I and others only see it only as a flawed, man-made document.

    This video is facinating: watch?v=MlnnWbkMlbg&feature=channel_video_title

If you want to know know the story that evidence presents, watch this video. Then by all means challenge me on it

  • @UrukEngineer Finally concerning why you always listen to Christian sermons, I really want to know why. But UrukEngineer ur in my prayers, God answers the prayers of the righteous.
