This is my review of the Adidas XCR (Gore-Tex) sneakers. I have used these shoes throughout my rehabilitation for my Achilles Tendon rupture that occurred on May 2nd, 2009. These shoes have been very supportive and effective for my quest to return to peak athletic performance. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate them about an 8.5 for overall value, performance and style.

  • This model is called the Tangent XCR. I loved mine, too, but after a while of using them on trails and hiking, I found the that hard toe cap did in the upper material. It comes too far back, coinciding too similarly with the natural pivot point of the ball of the foot. All this stress of bending material glued to the toe cap ripped the material on all 4 corners. This is improved on the newer version- T7 XCR.

  • Thanks for the comment. I always have trouble w/determining the mileage on my shoes and these did start to break down a few months ago for me and have since been replaced for training. It's also interesting how one's foot can change/adjust and you must accommodate that w/a more compatible shoe.

  • how's the achilles, btw?

  • Improving. Not 100%, but doing well. Thanks for asking. :)
