Happened to read a copy of Mens Health and there were variations of the plank, from standard to feet on a chair, then on the chair and marching, then on a wall. At the end it said "When that's easy, try marching planks with your feet against a wall. If you can do that for 60 seconds, record it on video. You'll be a fitness sensation on YouTube!" (www.menshealth.com/MH-QSG/MH-Fit.pdf) aha. I figured it sounded easy, so tried it after training today. My ass is high because I couldn't figure out how to 'march' without doing that to make room for my knees, toward the end I lower my ass and move my knees to the side, then straight after I tried with my feet higher up the wall. Not sure what the correct way to do it is. I pretty much never do planks, such a long boring exercise that just tires my shoulders after 4-5min.

  • I managed 1 minute but last 10 seconds was a bit 'Archie Mitchell'. I'll continue to do these I think.

  • @CallumPK Archie? I figured they aren't as hard as mens health made out.

  • you didn't put your arms in correct position...check this vid: /watch?v=e8dVp54FHT8&NR=1...if you want it harder, just put your hands further ahead...cool tho :)

  • @sandibanovic My arms are in the same position as that guy, palms down would have been better to stop me slipping, and later in the video I did it with arms crossed to be harder.

  • Mens Health is just as ridiculous over there then :)

  • Do you know you won't get anywhere like that?!! :-)

(very good exercise really, I'm gonna try this soon!)

  • @freddyjim10 They should be there in another week or two, sorry for the wait. Hope you enjoy them.

  • @Canizarezqw It's supposed to be a core stability exercise.

  • @TimothyChenAllen I though about that but figured planks were always on the forearms, the press-up position made it tough on my shoulders but it's meant to be a core stability exercise.

  • You're awesome! To make room for your knees without lifting your butt, maybe you could extend your arms fully and rest on your hands, like you were at the top of a pushup. I'll try it and see it it's possible... yep, I just tried it. It's really hard, but possible-- I'm sure you'll do better at it than I just did.

  • yes Atwood

  • I love you Andrew!!
