Indy 300 Gold Coast CRASH - Never seen before footage!

I took this footage at the Gold Coast (Australia) Indy 300 on October 27, 2002. Been meaning to post on YouTube for all to see. I'll never forget the massive impacts and crowd horror.

Very happy there were no major injuries.

Carpentier went upside down, Toranosuke Takagi was involved and so does Adrian Fernandez.

One of the most famous pile-ups since Spa 1998 in the pouring rain.

Looks like an amateur film from a scene of Transformers. This was a really hard crash!

I remember sitting at the hairpin, in my cheap crappy raincoat drenched through the skin waiting for the safety car to come in (the majority of the race was run under the safety car if I remember), seeing the amount of spray come off the cars and saying to my dad jokingly, "I bet there'll be a crash soon!"

I got the crash I wanted (a 14 year-old loves crashes) but it wasn't worth seeing the field obliterated, drivers injured, a red flag which lead to an 8km walk back to the hotel in the rain..

@vuetube actually it was Alex tagliani who flipped you can hear he saying michael go underneath my car and I flipped all over the place on the tv coverage

Wow! Great panning! The TV coverage was so foggy you couldn't see the flip! Home movies with real sound and no commentators is the best! Thankfully no one was permanently injured.

So Patrick has the Laguna Seca Back Flip and 2 Barrel Rolls under his belt;

1 at Road America and this one. All were pretty scary.
