Kristi Yamaguchi, the 1992 Olympic figure skating champion, at the 2010 Figure Skating in Harlem annual gala. FSH is a not-for-profit after school program for young girls in the Harlem community that combines free ice skating lessons, academic tutoring and cultural outings. Founded by Sharon Cohen over ten years ago, her goal is for every participant to attend college. Their annual benefit gala was held on April 5, 2010 at Wollman Rink in Central Park, NYC. In addition to Kristi, Tamara Tunie of Law & Order: SVU and Candace Matthews, the Chief Marketing Officer of Amway, were also honored for their contributions towards helping children reach their personal best.
what an amazing skater and great role model. i've always been a big fan and am so inspired that she's been able to create a meaningful life for herself all these years.
