Video of Snake and I hiking down the South Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon. The total distance of the trail is 7 miles and 7,000 feet in elevation. On June 28, 2009.
It took us about 3.5-4 hours to get down. The views were spectacular. My legs were a bit quivery the final couple of miles since it was all down hill.
Simply amazing though. Mother Nature is the best architect in the world.

I haven't been down into the Grand Canyon, but I saw it from the South Rim in October '09 and it was awesome. The photos that I took just can't do it justice. One day I'm going to return and hike the Grand Canyon!

Thanks for posting your clips.
Did you guys obtain the permits for staying in the Canyon without pre-booking? I'm from Australia, and I'm thinking I'll have to secure permits months in advance. Also, did you do any training to prepare for your hike?

I bet. I've been to Kanangra Walls in Australia. Not a tenth of the size of the GC but still I was in awe all day. Can't really imagine how I'd feel right on the edge of the Grand Canyon. How fantastic for you to camp out, right out. I love doing that.
