Video of Snake and I hiking down the South Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon. The total distance of the trail is 7 miles and 7,000 feet in elevation. On June 28, 2009.

It took us about 3.5-4 hours to get down. The views were spectacular. My legs were a bit quivery the final couple of miles since it was all down hill.

Simply amazing though. Mother Nature is the best architect in the world.

  • I haven't been down into the Grand Canyon, but I saw it from the South Rim in October '09 and it was awesome. The photos that I took just can't do it justice. One day I'm going to return and hike the Grand Canyon!

  • Thanks for posting your clips.

Did you guys obtain the permits for staying in the Canyon without pre-booking? I'm from Australia, and I'm thinking I'll have to secure permits months in advance. Also, did you do any training to prepare for your hike?

  • I bet. I've been to Kanangra Walls in Australia. Not a tenth of the size of the GC but still I was in awe all day. Can't really imagine how I'd feel right on the edge of the Grand Canyon. How fantastic for you to camp out, right out. I love doing that.
