Don't think of kodu game lab as very limited you can actually create really advanced stuff just depending on what you think and what you want to happen.
-
I downloaded it yesterday, it was my first time ever creating a game instead of just playing it
now i got a little racing game with 4 computer-drivers and one who is controlled by me
it's really awesome how easy it is to create something you'd never think about being able to do it

Now in the indie games section
I'm a sucker for little programmable games like this so I grabbed it yesterday. In a matter of moments I managed to make a small soccer style game. It's fairly fun and I can see myself getting into it when I have a bit more time. Hopefully they continue to update it with more characters/sounds/objects etc.
If I come up with anything good i'll send you a request.

Does it have a sophisticated physics engine, such as "phun?" Sandbox style programs/applications can entertain me for hours, but it has to be based on some very strong physics engine, otherwise it doesn't hold me.

physics are okay definitely doesn't seem very realistic. you may want to skip it.
