The Gospel of Barnabas

The Gospel of Barnabas is a substantial book depicting the life of Jesus; and claiming to be by Jesus's disciple Barnabas, who in this work is one of the twelve apostles. Two manuscripts are known to have existed, both dated to the late sixteenth century and written respectively in Italian and in Spanish; although the Spanish manuscript is now lost, its text surviving only in a partial eighteenth-century transcript. Barnabas is about the same length as the four canonical gospels put together (the Italian manuscript has 222 chapters); with the bulk being devoted to an account of Jesus' ministry, much of it harmonised from accounts also found in the canonical gospels. In some key respects, it conforms to the Islamic interpretation of Christian origins and contradicts the New Testament teachings of Christianity.

This Gospel is considered by the majority of academics, including Christians and some Muslims (such as Abbas el-Akkad) to be late and pseudepigraphical;[1] however, some academics suggest that it may contain some remnants of an earlier apocryphal work edited to conform to Islam, perhaps Gnostic[2] or Ebionite[3] or Diatessaronic.[4] Some Muslims consider the surviving versions as transmitting a suppressed apostolic original. Some Islamic organizations cite it in support of the Islamic view of Jesus.
This work should not be confused with the surviving Epistle of Barnabas, nor with the surviving Acts of Barnabas.

So,......I'm so confused about things,....there seem to be so many conflicting views for the way to such simple and beautiful truths. Everybody says you have to suffer to be like Jesus. How can that be the only way ? It makes no sense, and literally rips my heart in two.

@mrlogicalman1 Christians worship God who came in human form in the person of Jesus. He came as a sacrifice for sins according to what was foretold by Moses and the Israelite prophets. The Quran tells Muslims they must believe what has been revealed to Jews and Christians in their scriptures. Muslims who reject the Jewish/Christian Bible are unbelievers.

@aca28833 The 2nd commandent in no way prohibit Christians from worshipping Jesus. The 2nd commandment prohibits Jews from making images and worshipping them as gods.

@aca28833 Muslims should stop idolizing Muhammed. He was never a prophet of God nor a perfect model for humanity. Christians don't idolize Jesus but honor Him as we honor the Father. Jesus said that people should honor the Son as they honor the Father. God has exalted Jesus to be honored as one God with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

He entitles the video "Oldest Bible found in Palestine - Jesus was a Servant and not God himself" The subject of the video is the Didache, a Christian manual from the 2nd century that confirms Christian practices such as baptizing converts in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Christians believe Jesus was the divine Servant of God.
