I love Jim's representation of Christianity in the Dresden Files. There is clearly respect for "God" in that world, but we're not beaten-over-the-head by the infallibility of the one true and only God like many other Christian authors have done. It's a holistic world, and while Butcher's faith clearly informs a good portion of that, it is an open presentation that says "Hey, here's some awesome things done by Christian characters. And also here are some awesome things done by non-Christians."

A little nitpick here; the year listed for alternate history is decades before Butcher was born. Or is it a running gag in the series I wouldn't know about?

Butcher is one of my favorite authors. I've read all of the awesome "Codex Alera" series and all of the Dresden books that have been published so far. I can't hardly wait for the next book to come out. Great episode!

Codex Alera is such a great series. Butcher is definitely one of my favorite contemporary sci-fi/fantasy authors.

Basically think of a rectangular, flat pie crust, topped with a fruit jelly, then pie crust top, with icing drizzled on top, made to be heated in a toaster- so the "tart" pops up when done. Something kids tend to love, but when many get older they realize it's not to far from eating sugary, fruit pasted cardboard!

    :P

Actually, it was a Tyrannosaurus Rex. A zombie Tyrannosaurus Rex. Empowered by polka. Her name is Sue :P Can't wait for the next dragon to appear in the series though - they're apparently badass enough to give the scariest of demigods we've seen so far nightmares. Also just reread the Elenium and Redemption of Althalus, myself. Eddings was pretty cool back in the day. Even if he does have the annoying habit of having an almost OCD need to pair off /all/ the characters in each series ^^
