Prior to their departure from their school at Hyde Park High School, The Powerful Students of CASH, resisted the intimidation tactics utilized by their school's administration. They congregated in front of the school to signal to their fellow classmates that they were organizing to confront the Boston's school department's superintendent, Carroll Johnson.

They boldly ignored their headmaster's admonitions that they would be marked absent if they did not enter into the school ontime. The youth decided that it was a sacifice that they were willing to take. They knew that if they did not confront the superintendent with their concerns right away, they would lose much more than a day of school. The students were also taking advantage of a condition of their school policy which states that students who leave the school premises while school is in session can be punished with disciplinary action such as detention.

This was a mistake the students made when they first organized a walk out, which drew out 61 students to protest the budget cuts at Boston's city hall. The students were assigned detention. They were also threatened with suspension. The students knew that they were being threatened because their action was political in nature. Their spokes person made note, as you will see in this video, that a large number of students skip classes/ school on a daily basis and suffer no consequences.

In this video you will hear the conversation the militant Boston School Boston Drivers have with the lead organizer of the Powerful Students, Kervin. The drivers advise the students that their efforts need to be expanded to include their parents and more students. Communication amongst the students need to be developed. They also need to get their demands out there so that other students will know what is going on and that joining the fight is the only way they can really protect their education and futures.
