Lanegans solo work and album with soulsavers is full of religious references. so no, not a bible thumper but religion has clearly been a huge influence on his work.

I agree. There are many Christian themes (almost every song contains some sort of Biblical reference) but Greg Dulli, though raised a Catholic, denounced the religion in 1978 and is now an agnostic. Don't know about Lanegan, but he doesn't strike me as the Bible-thumping type either. Also, the Bible and its stories have become so much a part of Western culture that even atheists reference it as a part of culture instead of faith.

Great Band! Just heard them yesterday for the first time and they really are GREAT! "The Stations" is one of the best but all SATURNALIA cd is really good.

Just brilliant!! Saturnalia for me was the best album of 2008. The pairing of Dulli and Lanegan is just too good to let it pass by un-noticed. Damn, this is good!
