Based on my own experience, here are my five principles for starting resistance training.

The book I mention is Strength Training Anatomy by Frederic Delavier, published by Human Kinetics

  • what's resistance training, like definition and example please? I can't find a clear definition, is it just anything with weights?

  • According to wikipedia: "Resistance training has two different, broader meaning that refers to any training that uses a resistance to the force of muscular contraction (better termed strength training), and elastic or hydraulic resistance, which refers to a specific type of strength training that uses elastic or hydraulic tension to provide this resistance."

    I'm not convinced...

  • ...to me, anything which uses any resistance to muscle contraction, whether it be bodyweight, free weights, or elastic or springs or hydraulics, is resistance training.

    hope this clarifies.

  • Hello Sir!First off,congrats on EVERYTHING.I wish I would look as good as you in a year..I had my top surgery 19 days ago and I've been all depressed due to complications that I've had with me left chest.I was wondering if you would spell the name of your complication since I also have fluid buil-up and I have my first post op visit on the 3rd.I would like to speak intelligently to my Dr about the fluid still building up.Also,how long after your surgery were you able to work out?

  • Taking testosterone is bad. It'll make you think and act like a teenager again. It makes one aggressive, and also shortens life. I'm not getting this muddled up with steroids, by the way.

  • @lookatme10x (A SIMPLE DEFINITION) RESISTANCE TRAINing is for muscle mass. For example, pushups, squats, weights, crunches, etc..

    i was feeling down today and didnt wanna do my exercises but seeing you and the progress you made i feel like doing them now. the reason i was feeling down was im waiting for the gender clinic in Leeds to get back to me and then i know that i wont get T for a while.

    just a quick question if you dont mind, how long were u in therapy before u were allowed to start T and what age were you?
