Amazing how limited CGI and miniature work still holds up today if it is done properly. Making movies has become a copy and paste industry.  I mean, this isn't exactly citizen cane but the action didn't have to look like a video game to aid the presentation.

I remember seeing the TV version of this, and thought, wow, this was like the best scene of nuclear glory in a movie. Years later I think, wow, it still is!

In the beginning of this clip (when she is dropping off to sleep) her skin complexion seems to reflect (perhaps a better term is "blend in") with the light of the sunset. Somebody did a great job with her makeup! They may even have dyed her hair to that particular shade just for that (I do not know what her normal hair color is and it is conceivably the same shade as one sees in this movie). She is definitely wearing makeup as you can see from her unnaturally smooth skin.
