@timcp1 Just think about the type of spacecraft people are seeing, do you think they're moving objects, giant metallic objects with their minds? All the propulsion systems too?

@MST3KLives Thank you for a serious response. I see where you're coming from, however in order to build Pyramids you need muscle, and decent hand articulation to carve stone. In order to build pushing levers for workers to use, you still need decent hand articulation and muscle to manufacture the machines for which the levers are connected to. In order to do that you still need iron workers etc. capable of performing the task. Brain doesn't trump muscle, when we're talking about space ships.

@timcp1 You're reasoning is biased. You see three fingers as a disadvantage because we have 5 digits on each hand. Divers appendages are ubiquitous across the animal kingdom, each suiting the needs of their respective creatures accordingly. With regards to building the ships, things have changed since the days of the pyramids. If you visit any construction site today, you'll find more and more workers pushing levers of machines that do the work. As civilization progesses, brain trumps muscle.

This movie is silly. Three fingered beings are suppose to be able to engineer these highly structured sophisticated space machines? Not with their frail bodies and lack of proper articulation due to having only three fingers and being built like a 7 year old. Also, if they're able to function in the same environment as humans, that means they must exist in the same environment , and there's no way these beings would survive.

nice job

Yeah I know, that was a nice Idea, quite different, especially for the time. I get the feeling Spielberg isnt that happy with the way, Hollywood movie making has changed over the years, he seems to be in the background alot more with films these days. Like TF, he was Exec-Pro, he shud have really been Dir, not that "Bay" didnt do a good job though.
I love the build up throughout this film, it's so realistic, the only thing that spoils it a bit for me is end. Its just a bit hammy and over the top, with the whole mothership, and music comunication, and the hand signs stuff, but everything else is just spectacular, favourite scene where the kid gets taken, so scary.

I like the music communication though it probably goes on for a lot longer than it should have (the 1980 Special Edition has an even longer ending).
