this is meant in a non offensive way...but what is the point to pitting your dog on a treadmill? just for exercise??

I have two pit bulls...and I excersise them by taking them for walks, runs, hiking, and letting them play all they way...so I just never really got the point of a treadmill...oh well..

@rangedevil07 i take my dog for a 5 mile run in the morning (i box amateur level so its a quick run) and it dosent bother her she finishes and then stands ther looking at me like whats next?so iv started using a flirt pole to get her running and she loves it but i get dizzy spinning in circles while she chases it so im thinking of using a treadmill with her because after all the excersize i give her shes still nuts lol

Many dogs, especially pits are athletes and just taking them to the park to poop is not the kind of exercise they need. Additionally, the treadmill gives them that mental challenge that gives them a sense of having done something to earn their food and water. This helps balance them psychologically. It's a great tool. Not for every dog, but it helps in many cases, like when the owners are physically challenged and can't give them the exercise they need.
