All summer we've been hearing about how the Polar ice caps are melting. But now-- there is finally proof of how much shrinking has occurred. Take a look at this animation produced by CBS 11 News. As you can see, as the summer progresses, the ice cap shrinks and then finally reaches a point never before seen.

The ice actually melts far enough to open part of the Northwest Passage.

Scientists from around the world say it's like a spiral effect: as more ice melts, the ice around it becomes weaker and then melts at an even faster rate than before.

It's something scientists say is very alarming.

  • the ice in antarctica is known to go all the way down to the ocean bottom in places. the earth itself is known to be 'flattened' at the south pole and it is attributed to the weight of the ice. when it melts enough antarctica will rise out of the sea by as much as 5 miles, easy. in doing so it will crack the earths crust - period. it is connected to every tectonic plate in the world, either directly or indirectly. we are looking at another 'toba catastophe' and it may well be unstoppable.

  • @lifeofanidiot so you hacked wiki block did you....

It's not a matter of being right or wrong for me. I been wrong lots of times. I'm human.

But this is what I see. I took everything you've said and will sift through it perhaps some other time.

    Thanks

  • @a2zhandi You call it Post Galacial Rebound, even though that only takes place with an individual, moving glacier. That means you're wrong, I'm right.

  • @lifeofanidiot I haven't been to wiki in at least several days. These are basic physics. Maybe you should check into it before spouting off with all your deceiving lies.

  • @a2zhandi The water going into the sea won't cause the water level to rise, and the ice melting isn't in motion, so the landmass under it won't experience Post Glacial Rebound.

By the nine, you really are an idiot. How long did it take you to get around Wikipedia's SOPA blackout filter? -___-

    Dumbshit.

  • @lifeofanidiot when the "weight" of the "ice" on a land mass is relieved (melted) the land will rise. When the "ice" melts it goes into the sea. which rises the sea level. The land will rise greater than the size of antartica. It will actually grow in size when all the gravittional pressure is relived from the removal of all the ice weight pressing down on it.

    It's called Post Glacial Rebound!

I don't even own a tv dumb fuck!

  • @a2zhandi See, Volume has NOTHING to do with WEIGHT, meaning it has NO effect on Gravity. Even if ALL the ice melts over the Antarctic plate, the WEIGHT will remain the SAME because the ICE is LIGHTER than the WATER. GO TO COLLEGE. TAKE PHYSICS. TAKE FLUID DYNAMICS. GET A FUCKING EDUCATION AND STOP LISTENING TO THE SCAREMONGERING FUCKS ON THE NEWS.

  • more fishing and hunting in alaska

  • @a2zhandi You obviously know nothing about Geology, Physics, Thermodynamics, or Fluid Dynamics. Fuck off and never try to prove ANYONE wrong again unless you're fully versed on the subject.

  • @a2zhandi And Antarctica RISING!? Are you FUCKING RETARDED!? That's a CONTINENT attached to a TECTONIC PLATE. THERE WILL BE NO RISE.

Here's a little Physics Experiment for you. Get a graduated cylinder and fill it halfway with water, then put ice inside. Measure the water's location the second the ice goes in. Cover the top so Evaporation doesn't take effect, then remeasure the water after ALL the ice melts. The amount you get in the end will be about 10% less than the initial rise.
