Like it brother. Cool spoon. I see the other end is a spatula too. I am from the west originally and mesquite is tough wood to cut with a chainsaw. They give it away if you are willing to cut it. It dulls the blades fast. Cut a tree down, cut it up, sharpen and do it again. Ya spend more time sharpening the chainsaw than cutting.

You would be far better off with an axe. Parangs are for bamboo/jungle wood.
Also, you used the middle of the blade for splitting the wood, then tried to use it for carving. You should be keeping the middle section dull, and the top and bottom of the blade sharp for carving.
