@tholden66 - I might have this LR surgery soon. Were you supposed to have a knee-brace on and for how long? Or was it your own choice to use a brace post-op? thank you :-)

GREAT.... I am supposed to have a lateral release done on Sept 15th... what am I in for?? How are you doing now?
For this surgery, I did not weight bear on the knee for about 10 DAYS. Was on crutches for about 2 WEEKS. I could lightly jog with some pain after 9 MONTHS. After 1 YEAR, I was back to running full pace but still taking ibuprofen if on pavement for more than 3 miles or so. It's now about 2.5 YEARS and it is rare I ever have any pain at all. The scars can only bee seen in certian light if you really look for them.

What type of knee surgery was performed? How long were you on the crutches?
synchrolilie 5 months ago
@synchrolilie This was an arthroscopic removal of scar tissue and a partial lateral release. I was on crutches for about two weeks. Prior to surgery, the scar tissue was significant enough to rub away part of the bone in my knee. Some days I could not bend it at all even after taking Vicodin and ibuprofen so I was already used to using crutches or a cane to walk.

I think this was like 7-10 days after.. he took the stitches out the same day. It took about 9 months before I could run without significant pain. About two years later and I think I'm just getting to "full recovery"
